For us, it was never just about building houses — it was about raising the standard.
Easy Living Homes is a proud family-owned business, founded in Glenrothes by Keith and Tracey Davidson in late 2011. What started with a single plot has grown into one of Fife's most respected independent home builders, with over 400 homes delivered, multiple award-winning developments, and a reputation built entirely on quality and care.
Every home we build has to be something we'd be proud to live in ourselves - and that standard hasn't changed since the day we started.
Easy Living’s earliest landmark projects began not in housing, but in retail development. The company delivered commercial units in Glenrothes for Iceland and Lloyds the Chemist, before progressing to a retail scheme in Dundee and undertaking one of its most significant early regeneration projects: the redevelopment of the former Social Work offices and CISWO Miners Welfare Club in Glenrothes.
The redundant office building was sensitively extended and transformed into what is now widely regarded as one of Scotland’s most successful working persons’ clubs, while the adjoining town centre site was redeveloped into the Henge Shopping Centre, now home to Marks & Spencer, Food Warehouse and Farmfoods.
During this period, Easy Living also expanded into residential development with the delivery of 168 homes at The Avenue, Lochgelly, an important step in establishing the company’s growing reputation across both commercial and residential sectors.
Easy Living Homes began with one-off builds across Fife before expanding to its first large-scale residential site at The Avenues, Lochgelly - 168 award-winning bungalows and villas that set the tone for everything that followed.
Then came Forth Park. The redevelopment of the former Forth Park Maternity Hospital in Kirkcaldy is perhaps the project that best defines who Easy Living Homes are.
"This was a challenging project," Keith says. "The development included a listed mansion house and a historical stable block, both extremely dilapidated, both of which had to be retained. Demolishing the hospital building revealed significant hidden asbestos requiring expert removal. We also found unrecorded mine workings requiring grouting - and we were trying to do all of this during a pandemic."
The result was 55 impressive residential units - new builds, a transformed mews building, luxury apartments, and the beautifully renovated and extended Mansion House itself. A building most developers would have walked away from. Easy Living restored it. Because some things are worth more than the cost.
Castle Gait at East Wemyss followed - around 100 high specification modern new build homes that helped enhance the vibrant coastal community there. Then King's Meadow in Coaltown of Balgonie - 81 properties including bungalows and villas. And now St Rules View in Balmullo - 39 over-55s bungalows consolidating Easy Living's growing reputation as a builder that simply does more.
